- What does it mean when you say you provide choices?
Death is a transition process--a journey--that starts during life and extends for some time afterwards. Part of our service is to help you realize that you do have many choices along the way, and to help you discover your own choices. For example, how do you want to prepare for the journey? How do you want to experience dying? - Why do I need a HeartWays consultant?
Your journey is your own. To choose a HeartWays consultant is to choose a loving spiritual attendant and a death without fear, knowing you will not be alone on the way. - Who are HeartWays' clients? When should I use your services?
The right time is when you are ready to talk about your concerns about death and dying. It's never too early or too late in life to stop being worried or fearful! Most people start with a Personal HeartWay. If you are open to new possibilities and choices, this service will help you discover them. Our Safe Passage Companion service is designed for people approaching their death transition, or who want to plan ahead. Many of our services are also tailored to our clients' particular requirements. - I'm overwhelmed by all the issues I'm facing. How can you help?
Our consultants are experienced at helping you sort through the issues, feelings, thoughts, and practical problems that arise toward the end of your life. One of our clients told us, "it's the listening and feedback in a safe environment that is so very valuable." Our Personal HeartWay service provides you an opportunity to do this, and gives you a written 'roadmap' as well. We can help you with your living will and other advance directives, and we would love to help you hold a "living funeral". - Are your services compatible with my religious beliefs?
We accommodate, support and respect your specific beliefs. We are not affiliated with any other organization and have no 'agenda' in providing services. Every client is unique. Our services are not religious. We simply act as servants and guides. - What if I'm in a hospital or nursing home?
We can come to you wherever you are, in your home or any type of residential or health care facility. - Does it matter what part of the country I live in?
Our consultants are mostly located in Southern California, but we are able to travel to your location. Not all of our services need to be provided in person. However, we prefer to spend at least some time with you in person, and we like to be with you physically at the end of your life if you so choose. - Are you a hospice?
No. We focus exclusively on the non-physical aspects of our clients death transition, both before and after physical death. The wonderful work of hospice organizations centers primarily on palliative care for patients who are dying, and emotional and practical support for families and caregivers. - Does HeartWays receive Medicare or other insurance payments?
No. We are independent, relying on donations and client fees for services. - What do your services cost?
Our service packages are tailored to the needs of each specific client. The Personal HeartWay is the most usual starting point. We use a service agreement for each client that spells out a menu of specific services and pricing. All services are optional--there are no obligations to pre-order, and payments are not made until the service is rendered or are held in a trust account for refund in case of cancellation.
